An Easy Entry Point for New Rocketry Customers

The Firecrest™ is built for customers who want to try model rocketry without taking on a complicated first project. Its compact size, beginner-friendly construction, and approachable flight profile make it a natural recommendation for parents, young rocketeers, gift shoppers, and hobbyists buying their first rocket.

For retailers, that versatility makes the Firecrest easy to merchandise across several customer needs. It can serve as a first kit, an affordable add-on purchase, or an accessible way to introduce new shoppers to the Estes brand and the broader model rocketry category.

Simple Construction Helps Reduce the Barrier to Entry

Molded plastic fins help simplify assembly and add durability, giving new builders a more approachable path from opening the package to getting the rocket ready for launch. At 9.5 inches tall and just 0.52 ounces, the Firecrest is compact, easy to handle, and well suited to customers who may feel intimidated by larger or more involved kits.

That straightforward build makes it easier for store staff to recommend the Firecrest with confidence to shoppers asking for a beginner rocket, a family-friendly project, or a first hands-on model rocket experience.

Beginner-Friendly Flights Up to 125 Feet

Using an Estes 1/4A3-3T engine, the Firecrest reaches a projected maximum altitude of 125 feet. The lower flight profile helps keep the rocket visible throughout the launch, allowing new flyers to follow the action from ignition through recovery without sending the rocket far out of sight.

This manageable altitude is especially appealing to first-time customers who want the excitement of liftoff with a flight that feels easier to track and recover. It also gives retailers a clear, easy-to-explain performance benefit when comparing beginner rocket options.

Streamer Recovery Keeps the Experience Simple

The Firecrest uses a streamer recovery system that keeps descent quick and easy to follow. Once recovered, the rocket can be prepared for another flight, helping reinforce the repeatable nature of the hobby and creating natural follow-on opportunities for engines, recovery supplies, and launch accessories.

For launch, the Firecrest uses an Estes 1/4A3-3T engine and a Porta-Pad II launch system with a 1/8 inch launch rod. Engines, launch systems, starters, recovery supplies, and other launch accessories are sold separately unless otherwise specified.
