Get two and build a xxl

Puttwo kits together and going to test fly it tomorrow. It is a great looking rocket. I have a XL stock kit. It flies well. I am looking forward to flying my XXL and see how it does.

Great Beginner D/E Kit, Plus Good Platform for Bigger Projects!

As an off-the-shelf rocket, this is great! On a D12-5 motor, you're flying within the limits of sight and still waiting around a minute for it to come back. On an E12-6, you will lose sight of it!

When you're ready for more, there are BT-60 dual-deployment kits from other manufacturers that can transform this rocket into something outrageous; I have used these as a platform for some great builds.

My current favorite version of this rocket uses a mylar streamer for drogue an Apogee BT-60 dual-deploy kit with AltusMetrum Easy Mini to blow a main parachute around 200 feet. On an E12-6, this lets me do dual-deployment flights for around $8 a launch! Now to work up the courage to try an F35 in an 24/60 Aerotech casing...

Wonderful!

The Hi-Flier XL is a great design all around. Mine has flown on the full range of recommended motors and has also flown in a two-stage configuration, with a pair of E12s butted together. It’s a real altitude demon and quite a drifter that way, but if you have the recovery space for it, it’s fun.
