Years ago I led a group build of these things

Years ago I led a group build of these things with the Boy Scouts. Thanks to the dead-simple design, some 50 Scouts each got an airworthy rocket after only an hour of work.
It flies well on all of the recommended motors (even the A8-3) and the wide tube just begs you to use even larger ones if you get bored of the 18mm motors and don’t mind taking the risk of losing it.
There’s plenty of room for experimentation too, so I’ve seen and built my fair share of “FrankenBerthas”.
Best kit Estes offers, and it’s not even close.

The Estes Baby Bertha is perfect for up, or down

The Estes Baby Bertha is perfect for up, or down scaling and I'm really into mods, never satisfied with stock motors. The stock Estes Baby Bertha is up powered, for 24mm BP E motors. Down scaling the Estes Baby Bertha I used a BT-20, a BNC-20 mod to a blunt nosecone, with 1/8inch thick balsa fins and downscaled to a Mini Baby Bertha, powered by the Estes Mini Engine series and featherweight tumble recovery, after 3 part break away attached to a common shock cord. I modeled it after the discontinued Estes Mini Bertha, as part of the 'Mini Brutes' series and it stands 6-1/16inches tall.
